Industrial Technology Classroom Procedures
Entering the Classroom: Enter the classroom calmly, quietly, and proceed directly to your seat and begin your bell-work. This is not the time to visit with classmates. Use this time to make certain you are ready for class.
HORSE PLAY IS NEVER PERMITTED! ALL SAFETY RULES AND PROCEDURES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
Required Daily Materials: You must bring the following items to class every day; a GREAT attitude, a sharpened PENCIL, black or blue ink pen, paper, shop notebook, library book, and any due assignments. This list of materials can and will periodically change as needed, throughout the year.
Assignments: All assignments are due at the beginning of class. All assignments must contain, first name, last name, date, and class period! Papers without this information will be discarded. The student may redo the assignment for reduced credit. Incomplete work is not accepted. Late work will receive reduced credit of 50%!
Absent work: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain and complete any assignments missed.
Daily assignments will be listed in the “Assignment Notebook” to the right of the white board. If you are absent, check the notebook for the day you missed, write down the assignment, complete it, and turn it in directly to Mr. Evans. Write “absent” along with your name, date, and period on the assignment.
Beginning of Class: Complete “Bell Work” assignment and make your planner entry. Check the board for any assignment or special instructions, sharpen your pencil, get your shop notebook. If you finish, begin reading the textbook assignment if one is on the board or quietly read your library book until instruction begins.
Talking: Talking or visiting with classmates is not permitted unless it is required as part of your assigned task or activity. When you have a question or comment raise you hand and wait to be called upon.
Tardy: To avoid being tardy you must be in your seat and working before the tardy bell rings.
Procedure for leaving your seat: No one is allowed out of their seat without permission.
Bell Procedures: The bell is for the benefit of the teacher not the students. The bell does not dismiss you from class, I dismiss you. You need to ignore the bell, remain seated and working until you have been dismissed.
Class visitors or interruptions: From time to time we will have visitors in our class as well as other types of interruptions. When interruptions occur there is no need for any action by the students. You should continue working and await instruction from me.
Our classroom rules and procedures will be adjusted as needed throughout the school year.
Students will also receive instruction in general shop and specific machine safety and practices.
